Metamorphisis
This series picks right up where Skin Deep took off, and it is the second series that is fully painted.
The only other noteable things about it is that with 9 issues, it is so far the longest series, and it is also the first series
to be releases on Image Comics.
Issues 1-3:

One: "seperate peices"
Our story starts off with Kabuki playing an ink blot game with the doctor. One of the blots reminds her of her mothers jade statue that she used to wear around her neck, and she tells the doctor the story of her mother. She tells them how the young Ainu girl who was taken from her family, served the army of Japan during the war by performing Kabuki plays, how she was raped and bore a child, and how that child was killed on her grave.
Kabuki tells the doctor how she met her mother that day she died, but her mother told her to go back as a ghost, and that she did. she haunted the airwaves as Kabuki. They continue to pay the ink blot game until they come across a defective card that looks like a face with scars down the left side, and then Kabuki stops cooperating.
The guards bring her back to her cell, and one takes it upon himself to try and take advantage of Kabuki. She does not react kindly to this and took the guard by surpass, as they did not know she had been working out and over came the drugs that they had been giving her in her food. Kabuki writes the last thing Akemi had said to her on the cell wall with her fingers and the guards blood. Another guard enters the cell but is stopped by a girl holding a note in her hand. It's Akemi.

Two: "invisible friends"
Akemi stands over the guard as Kabuki realizes what is going on. Akemi takes her hand and leads her to a vent in the corner of the room that the climb down. between the noise of the pipes and the filtration system, they are free tot talk without being overheard. Kabuki takes a bath and shares stories of her childhood with Akemi.
She says that Akemi reminds her of a book she used to read as a child called "my invisible friend," and how her only friend growing up was her goldfish. The general flushed the fish down the toilet when it died, but she likes to think that its grown and swimming in the rivers, and one day hopes to meet her fish again.
She continues to tell stories of the Generals eccentricities, of the way he would dress mannequin in her mothers clothing and play the piano for them. Kabuki herself was raised playing the piano and ballet when she was little, until she net Kai and received her scars. After that she was raised to be a soldier, and she embraced it. The mask became her identity, but she wondered how it can be taken away from her and given to someone else. Akemi says that anything that can be taken away from you, is not you.
Their conversation is interrupted by the appearance of a woman wearing a Control Corps uniform.

Three: "retina escape"
Kabuki recognizees the woman from a time before she worked for the Noh, and leaps to attack her before Akemi has the chance to tell her that its another inmate named Jen, who has brought Kabuki a fresh change of clothes. They strategies about how to get out of the building, and travel through the air vents to the minimum security wing were another inmate, Angel, is waiting for them. Angel had gotten into a fight recently and received bandaged on the right side of her face, and a cast on her left arm which she gives to Kabuki. They exchange block necklaces and Angel goes off towards Kabuki's cell.
Akemi takes Kabuki, who is now disguised as Angel, to play a game of scrabble with some of the other inmates. One of them had broken into the facility and is their key to breaking out, and she will give Akemi instructions through her scrabble pieces. During the game the nurses come to fetch the inmate for medication, and she says many things that seem to not make any sense. Akemi takes the scrabble pieces that the inmate had laid down with her as she went to meet a psychic inmate who believes her self to be the living incarnation of Buddha. She can see that Kabuki is not Angel, and directs them as to what they should do.
